Will & I, along with DiabetesSisters, are excited to bring the annual orange:will Diabetes Awareness Walk to the Triangle Area of North Carolina on Saturday, May 4. As Co-Chairs of this yearís walk, we are motivated to make this year an even bigger success than last year & hope you will join us as we recruit teams & raise much needed funds for DiabetesSisters & the programs & services it offers to all women with diabetes. This yearís prizes for top fundraisers include an Apple iPad & a luxurious trip for two!
We have been involved with DiabetesSisters for many years, and have experienced firsthand the positive effect peer support can have when living with a chronic disease. As a member of DiabetesSisters, I have attended life-altering Weekend for Women Conferences, attended peer support groups (PODS) in my town, & have made excellent friends through quarterly social gatherings. The presence of DiabetesSisters in my life has made a great impact in my diabetes care, and last year, Will joined as a participant in the Partnerís Perspective Program. There, he learned more about diabetes and met other men who support their wives and partners in their everyday diabetes management. He came away with friendships from others who share his passion for supporting their mates & is currently serving as a member of the planning committee for this yearís program.
With over 13 million women in the United States living with diabetes, everyone knows at least one woman with diabetes who would benefit from your show of support on Saturday, May 4th. Additionally, May is Womenís Health Awareness Month & diabetes poses one of the greatest threats to womenís physical & mental health, so itís time to get serious about addressing these unique challenges.
We look forward to seeing you at the orange:will Diabetes Awareness Walk on May 4th!
